The Hypnosis You Don’t Know You’re Under, Trance Loops & Toxic Love: Why You’re Stuck (And What To Do About It)

“Sh!t or get off the pot."

That famous quote straight out of my mother's mouth… It constantly shows up for me, time and time again. A little EXTRA? Yes. Accurate as hell? Ding, ding, ding.
Because I’ve been in that exact place—stuck. Waffling with indecision, not moving… Just sitting there, uneasy, full of anxiety, afraid to make the wrong choice and stuck in analysis paralysis. And what’s wild is—most of us don’t even realize we’re not ONLY stuck... We’re legit under a trance. What I call a toxic trance.
So, let me explain…
We hear the word “hypnosis” and think of pocket watches, live and wild entertainment shows that people do the most embarrassing things, or woo-woo mind control. But the reality? You’re already hypnotized. All. The. Time.
Hypnosis is really just focused attention + heightened suggestibility. Which sounds a lot like... social media ha ha ha. Your parents and that exhausting inner loop that keeps repeating the same old crap, over and over again.
We were literally programmed from the time you were little. And unless we do the work to interrupt it... That program is still running and running well.
Hence the handy term: toxic trance.
Let’s say:
Your mom dated all the wrong men.
Your dad wasn’t around.
You saw chaos, pain, heartbreak... maybe even abuse.
And now, as an adult? You keep attracting emotionally unavailable people... while telling yourself this one’s different every damn time. But it’s not. Because you’re not. You’re still stuck in the trance.
Or maybe you got cheated on or know someone who has. And now, even that new relationship—that's actually healthy, secure, kind—is FULL of insecurities:
Doubting their loyalty
Looking for signs they’re cheating
Sabotaging the trust they’re trying to build
You’re not crazy - you’re hypnotized. By your past, by pain, by “intuition” that is riddled with fear, zapping any true sense of direction and meaning. A toxic trance will keep you repeating old stories and patterns that don’t serve you… while convincing you they’re keeping you safe. Tricky, tricky!
And the only way to wake up? Is to bring awareness to it. To see the trance for what it is. To bring it out of the subconscious and into the body. This is where hypnotherapy comes in…not to control your mind, but to give you your control back.
Hypnotherapy uses the same mechanism that trapped you… to free you. It’s the art of creating conscious trance—where we can speak directly to those inner loops and rewrite the script from the inside. This is why this is not hypnosis, the “therapy” add on means there’s a dialogue happening between us. We stop attempting to willpower our way out (spoiler alert: that will NEVER work). We go straight to the source. Because real change doesn’t come from thinking differently. It comes from knowing differently - on a subconscious and cellular level.
So yeah back to: sh!t or get off the pot...
